Case Study
Cloud Infrastructure and Internal Developer Platform (IDP) for E-commerce Solution

Client
Quanti is a Czech technology company founded in 2010 by a team of developers from the Czech Technical University. Quanti provides custom software and hardware solutions primarily in the areas of web and mobile applications, e-commerce, and AR/VR and 3D. A team of more than 150 specialists has completed over 100 projects across various industries.
Challenge
Quanti was approached by the Czech branch of a significant global retail brand to develop an e-commerce platform for the Czech market, where the brand had no online sales channel before. Given the global strength of the brand and its wide customer base, high traffic volume was expected from launch. This placed high demands on robust cloud infrastructure that would ensure scalability, performance, and reliability. However, internal teams lacked the necessary experience with cloud architecture, making it essential to involve an external partner who would design and implement a solution meeting both technical requirements and the brand's global standards.
Solution
To meet the client's requirements, Quanti delivered a comprehensive e-commerce solution based on Magento, which formed its core. Around the Magento core, several web frontends and supporting services were created, which together formed the entire ecosystem. Since Magento is not entirely cloud-native, our team adapted it and designed the infrastructure so that it would behave as cloud-native as possible in the AWS environment. The infrastructure was built on Kubernetes, supplemented by a range of AWS managed services for databases, cache, message queues, and more. From the beginning, the architecture was designed with emphasis on performance, security, and reliability. Key elements included load balancing, CDN, Web Application Firewall (WAF), zero-trust policies, distroless container images, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). To make usage simple and efficient for Quanti developers, development tools, infrastructure provisioning, and deployment automation were integrated into an Internal Developer Platform (IDP). This platform enabled both backend and frontend teams at Quanti to efficiently and standardized develop, test, and deploy any component from the ecosystem. We worked closely on adapting the IDP to match the workflows and development practices of the teams.
Results
The Internal Developer Platform (IDP) enabled developers to deploy to all testing and production environments at any time. Fully automated deployment of infrastructure and applications triggered by every commit to the version control system completely eliminated waiting times (no ticket-ops) and the need for manual interventions (no click-ops). New features and changes can thus be delivered within minutes, with minimal failed production deployments. The runtime environment remains stable and resilient without infrastructure-related incidents, even under increased load. By removing operational obstacles and automating and standardizing procedures, Quanti enabled teams to quickly iterate and reliably deploy new application features. The client achieves approximately 10 million CZK monthly revenue, which is the highest sales volume in the region.
"Thanks to the deployment of cloud infrastructure and Internal Developer Platform from Zonio, we were able to significantly accelerate the development and deployment of our e-commerce solution. Automated processes and standardized workflows eliminated technical obstacles and allowed our developers to focus on what they do best - creating great products for our clients."
